Introduction

Milan Manager is a software application for controlling, managing, and monitoring Milan-capable audio devices. It discovers devices in the AVB domain, routes audio channels and streams between them, and reports device and network errors.

Background

Milan Manager builds on AVB and the Milan specification. Concepts such as the AVB domain, talkers and listeners, streams and channels, redundancy, and clocking determine how routing and device settings behave in the network. These concepts are explained in Concepts. Definitions of individual terms are listed in the Dictionary.

Milan Manager

The Milan Manager section is the reference for the user interface. It describes what each control does, organized by tab:

• Application window: main menu, header, main tabs, and network interface selection.
• Overview (Channels mode) and Overview (Streams mode): device selection, routing, and stream monitoring for the respective Workflow.
• Routing: stream connections and channel mappings of individual devices.
• Devices: device details such as Media Clock, firmware, and configurations.
• Network: device errors and the topology of the AVB domain.
• Event Log: changes and errors recorded during a session.

Workflows

The Workflows section describes common tasks step by step and links to the relevant reference pages for details on individual controls:

• Connect to a network: selecting the network interface used to communicate with devices.
• Save / load network state: backing up and restoring stream connections, channel mappings, and device settings.
• Offline editing: preparing a network configuration without connected devices.
